The arts are part of STEAM education because they help develop creative problem solving skills. Drawing and painting still life, nature or figures, helps to build attention to detail and observational skills. Abstact art alone is like solving an unknown problem to result in an image or object. S.T.E.A.M. City Corporation was created as a non-profit organization with the goal of making S.T.E.A.M. education topics accessible to everyone regarless of their ability to pay. As the world gets more and more tech oriented, the need for education in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics becomes more important. For people in low opportunity circumstances this can be difficult. First generations, parents with low education achievement, low income and access to education are all present in the communities we want to serve. The potential to get higher education and begin a life changing career is a reality on this education track. The need for S.T.E.A.M. educated workers really grows every day.
